Queen Rania of Jordan was interviewed by Becky Anderson on CNN on Sunday as she expressed her grief about what’s happening in Gaza. It’s not the first interview that she talked to CNN about Gaza escalation as she was interviewed by Christiane Amanpour on 24 October.
“Being pro-Palestinian is not being antisemitic, being pro-Palestinian does not mean you’re pro-Hamas or pro-terrorism” she said.
She said:” If you managed to eliminate Hamas, What’s next?” She highlighted that the root cause of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict is the illegal occupation. “If we don’t address this root cause then, you can kill the competent, you can’t kill the cause.” She said.
For the evacuation that Palestinians are suffering from, she advocated:” This evacuation isn’t for the benefit of Gaza civilians.”
“I want to -absolutely and wholeheartedly- condemn antisemitism and Islamophobia…but I also want to remind everyone that Israel does not represent all the Jewish people around the world. Israel is a state and is alone is responsible for its own crimes.”
When Becky asked her about using Hamas the human shields, Queen Rania replied: “When it comes to human shields, I think we need to defer to international law. “
She denounced the bombardment on the Jabalia refugee camp as she touted the attack “It’s not accidental and a crime war.”
Previously, Queen Rania of Jordan spoke up in an interview on CNN with Christiane Amanpour on 24 October, in which she condemned the brutal attack on Gaza and expressed her solidarity with Palestine. She expressed her grief about what happening in Gaza and she refused any assault on Civilians. She explained that the Middle East is disappointed and shocked about the world’s reaction towards this catastrophe. “We can’t believe the images we are seeing every single day coming out of Gaza,” she said.
Queen Rania said: “The people all around the Middle East, including in Jordan, are just shocked and disappointed by the world’s reaction to this catastrophe that is unfolding. In the last couple of weeks, we have seen a glaring double standard in the world.”
