Its been known now that iOS 18 is going to be the biggest overhaul of Apple’s mobile operating system in its history, and over time there’s been a steady trickle of leaks revealing what we can expect.
With the growing consumer interest in generative artificial intelligence products like ChatGPT, Apple is expected to focus heavily on AI improvements in iOS 18. AI and machine learning updates may be seen for many apps and features, with Apple working on large language models to bolster in-app features.
Mark Gurman’s opinion about IOS 18
According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman in his Power On newsletter, Apple will infuse iOS 18 with a range of powerful artificial intelligence (AI) tools that use a mixture of on-device processing and dedicated servers packed with Apple’s own chips. This time, Gurman has some claims relating to some of Apple’s most popular iOS apps.
Specifically, Gurman stated that Apple “will improve Siri’s voice capabilities, giving it a more conversational feel, and add features that help users with their day-to-day lives – an approach it calls “proactive intelligence.”
When and where will apple announce about IOS 18?
Apple’s developer or programmer conference ‘World Wide Developers Conference (WWDC)’ is going to be held in June this year.
This year’s conference will be held from June 10 to 14. Apple will announce several new products and services at the WWDC conference. One of these announcements could be iOS 18. It is said that several artificial intelligence-based features will be added to this operating system. Let’s know about the new features that will be added to the iOS 18 operating system.
Eye tracking
Although it’s seen in Apple’s Vision Pro, this time Apple is going to add eye tracking to iPhone and iPad. Users can scroll the iPhone screen using eye gestures using this feature that will be added to the iOS 18 operating system. This technology adds machine learning technology to the iPhone’s front camera and device, so no additional device will be needed to detect eye gestures.
🪄 C’est de la sorcellerie : Apple annonce également Eye Tracking pour contrôler son iPhone ou son iPad uniquement avec ses yeux. 🤯

Generative AI
Several generative AI features may be added to the IOS 18 operating system. These new AI features can be used to automatically create Apple Music playlists as well as write using the AI writing assistant. AI-based editing tools may also be added to the Photos app, along with adding AI-based features to Siri. Along with the audio transcript facility, the Notes app will also provide an opportunity to edit any text through machine learning technology.
Music Haptic Facilitation
For those who can’t hear, to understand music, the facility called ‘Music Haptic’ can be added to the iOS 18 operating system. When this feature is turned on, music will be converted into vibrations instead of words. As a result, even those who cannot hear can understand the melody of the song by touching the iPhone. This feature can be used on certain songs in Apple Music.
More expected features
Apple’s “proactive intelligence” could also include features ranging from “auto-summarizing notifications” to “transcribing voice memos” and “a quick synopsis of news articles”. According to Gurman, we can also expect slightly more low-key improvements to features like app suggestions and automatic calendar entries.
We’ll have to wait to see if that “conversational feel” comes close to OpenAI’s recent demos of its GPT-4o-powered voice assistant, which will gradually roll out this year.
