In an attempt to support his buddy in the last days of the campaign, former president Donald Trump, who supported Bernie Moreno, addressed a rally in Ohio on Saturday afternoon. It happened only a few days after Moreno, who has publicly expressed opposition to LGBTQ+ issues as a candidate.
An Associated Press article revealed that an account on the website Adult Friend Finder which facilitates casual sexual encounters was made using Moreno’s work email address. The account requested “men for 1-on-1 sex” when it first appeared on the website in 2008.
During his event on Saturday in Vandalia, Ohio, Trump stood up for Moreno against criticism he claimed came from Democrats. “Bernie is an amazing person. We won’t put up with the extremely harsh phony treatment he’s currently receiving from Democrats because we know this man well, Trump said. “Everyone is familiar with this man. We won’t allow these ill individuals to continue their lives; he is a hero and a winner.
Democratic PAC Attacks Moreno, Aiding Him With GOP Primary Voters
A well-known Democratic super PAC has also spent $2.7 million on advertisements slamming Moreno for being too conservative and Trump-aligned, in addition to the assaults from Republicans. Moreno may gain Republican primary supporters as a result of such criticisms. Additionally, by releasing the advertisement before the state’s GOP primary, the PAC may be utilizing a tactic that Democrats have employed recently: endorsing a Republican who they believe will be the most straightforward to defeat in the general election.
Ohio was always thought of as a swing state, but in recent years, it has drastically shifted to the right, with Trump winning the state handily in 2016 and 2020. The lone surviving statewide elected Democrat in the Buckeye State is Brown, who is running for a fourth term.
Attacks Intensify in Ohio
In the primary, Moreno will compete against Ohio state senator Matt Dolan and secretary of state Frank LaRose. The candidates’ campaign appears to be getting closer according to polls, and in the closing weeks leading up to Tuesday’s GOP primary, political advertisements from outside organizations have become more and more personal.
In an advertisement aired last month, the pro-Moreno Buckeye Values PAC which organized Trump’s event on Saturday asked Ohioans if they could trust LaRose, claiming that he had been dubbed “a champion for trans equality.” In the advertisement, LaRose is superimposed in front of a rainbow flag while sporting “Trans Equality Now” and pro-Planned Parenthood buttons. Additionally, it is believed that the organization has distributed campaign mail in Ohio with the questions “Is he with us? ” and “What Team Does Frank LaRose Play For?” Or does he belong to them/them?
In a statement, Ben Kindel, a LaRose campaign spokesperson, stated, “Desperate campaigns lead to desperate measures.” Frank is the only Republican contender with combat experience who has the potential to defeat Sherrod Brown in November. Meanwhile, the pro-Dolan Buckeye Leadership Fund released nationwide radio and television advertisements, referring to the AP investigation and labeling Moreno as “damaged goods” and “creepy.”
Spokesman Chris Pack with the Buckeye Leadership Fund stated, “The advertisement speaks for itself and cites a well-sourced AP story.” Bernie Moreno is a secret leftist who has to be explained. Bernie appears unable to keep it all straight since he has spoken so many lies and has so many dirty secrets. They are a part of an ad purchase for $7.4 million.
