Blake Lively is making her long awaited comeback to film industry with her new upcoming project ‘It Ends with Us’ along with, Justin Baldoni – who is also the director of the movie and Brandon Sklenar.
The trailer of the movie ‘It Ends with Us’ was released on Thursday, May 16. Blake and Justin’s fairytale love story turning into a toxic relationship is depicted in the film. The trailer also is set to the Taylor Swift song “My Tears Ricochet,” which appears on the singer’s 2020 album, Folklore. And as we all know, Taylor and Blake are best friends that makes it more exciting.
What inspires the story?
‘It Ends with Us’ is a famous romance novel by Colleen Hoover, published by Atria Books on August 2, 2016. Based on the relationship between her mother and father, Hoover described it as “the hardest book I’ve ever written.” As of 2019, the novel had sold over one million copies worldwide and been translated into over twenty languages. A sequel titled of the book is ‘It Starts with Us’ was published in October 2022.

It Ends with Us, the first Colleen Hoover novel adapted for the big screen, tells the story of Lily Bloom (Blake Lively), a woman who overcomes a traumatic childhood to embark on a new life in Boston and chase a lifelong dream of opening her own business.
A chance meeting with charming neurosurgeon Ryle Kincaid (Justin Baldoni) sparks an intense connection, but as the two fall deeply in love, Lily begins to see sides of Ryle that remind her of her parents’ relationship. When Lily’s first love, Atlas Corrigan (Brandon Sklenar), suddenly re-enters her life, her relationship with Ryle is upended, and Lily realizes she must learn to rely on her own strength to make an impossible choice for her future.
Cast of the movie
Hoover made the cast announcements via Instagram on Jan 26. Blake Lively has been cast in the leading role of Lily Bloom, accompanied by Justin Baldoni and Brandon Sklenar as main love interests Ryle Kincaid and Atlas Corrigan, respectively. Other cast members include Jenny Slate as Ryle’s sister Allysa and Hasan Minhaj as Marshall.
Hoover’s reaction on the movie
In 2023, Hoover shared news of the movie adaptation’s cast on TikTok, calling Lively her “dream Lily” and saying that she and Baldoni “have what it takes to bring these characters to life.” She also described the film’s script as “amazing,” adding, “I know y’all are going to be happy.”
“It’s been very heartwarming to read how much the book has helped people, and that my mother’s story has actually given strength to other women to be able to leave their situations,” she told. “It’s a wonderful thing that I’m excited to see on the screen. I also hope that it has the same effect that the book has had.”
Blake’s reaction about the movie
Lively, previously told media, she hopes her love for the character and the source material shines through.
“Lily resonated with an enormous amount of people, as the success of the book made clear,” she said. “Stepping into a character who’s had such a meaningful impact is an honor to take on. I loved Lily, and I hope that love is felt by those who care about her like I do, and also those who are getting to know her for the first time in this film.”
Director and costar Baldoni, who has been working on the project for nearly five years, told media the film “really comes from the heart and from the depth of my soul.”

When will the movie be released?
Despite an initial release date set for February 9, 2024, the actors and writers’ strike that took Hollywood by storm last year, has pushed the release to August 9 instead. Nonetheless, the first looks of movie were released on April 30, 2024 via instagram.
