Israel’s hop from a defense-playing field to seizing attack on Gaza civilians has received international condemnation. U.S President has openly acknowledged the ‘mistake’ Netanyahu is committing through his act of extreme violence.
Seated in his oval office, president Joe Biden on Tuesday expressed his concerns on the harsh conditions Gaza is under. He said minister Netanyahu is making a ‘mistake’ sabotaging Gaza’s access to humanitarian aid.
These comments were made in an interview, when Mr. President was asked about his stand on Israel and if Netanyahu’s approach on Gaza was correct. Calling his approach a mistake, Biden immediately urged the prime minister to call for an effective ceasefire in Gaza.
The deteriorating economic situation in Gaza in consequence to Israeli strikes has previously alarmed the international court of justice (ICJ) to intervene and order Netanyahu to allow utilities to pass through.
Addressing the lack of economic support in Gaza which has killed substantial Gaza-youth, Biden said, “What I’m calling for the Israelis to just call for a ceasefire, allow for the next six, eight weeks, total access to all food and medicine going into the country.”
U.S’s policy shift towards Israel
Biden who has shown regular support to Netanyahu since October 7th 2023, when Hamas-terrorists infiltrated in Israel and committed mass genocide, killing 1,200 Jewish citizens, also has simultaneously condemned his actions of extreme hostility towards Gaza civilians.
This dramatic policy shift spawned after the deadly attack on the convoy inhabiting aid-workers of World Central Kitchen a U.S based mobilized kitchen heading their way to feed the helpless Gaza civilians when an Israeli strike slapped through, killing all seven aid-workers.
On April 5th, President Biden exchanged a tense telephonic conversation with Netanyahu expressing his agitation over the killing of the aid-workers and propelling the latter to work towards a ceasefire to bring hostages back home.
With U.S presidential elections looming around, Biden also faces pressure from Opposition to change his Gaza-policy to attract Islamic and young-voters who would have denied support to Biden if he had not interfered in Netanyahu’s continuous push for military operations in Gaza.
Israeli effort to decompress crisis in Gaza
The U.S backing to bring Hamas-held hostages back to Israel is a crucial advantage that Netanyahu has amidst the showering of missile attacks by union of various Islamic-extremist groups from neighboring middle-east countries on the Jewish state ever-since Netanyahu has administered strikes on Gaza.
Family members of some of the U.S hostages taken by Hamas during the attack, met Vice-President Kamala Harris at the White House on Tuesday as negotiations for a deal continues.
Netanyahu’s administration is also facing deepening internal threats from families of the hostages who are still uncertain about their loved one’s existence.
Huge demonstrations broke out few days back, when family members in huge gathering stormed the administrative headquarter with photos of their missing family members stuck on banners, demanding immediate ‘ceasefire’.
Rachel Goldberg, whose son Hersh-Goldberg-Polin was among those captured, has been an active voice for countless people who have lost touch with their loved ones. “We need results, we need our people back home”, she told reporters.
Considering U.S as a pivotal defense ally, Netanyahu since his phone call with Biden has agreed to open new-aid crossings to Gaza and also announced the recent withdrawal of military troops from Gaza’s Southern City of Khan Younis. The boiling Israeli blood back at home has also pressurized Netanyahu to finally draw a line and settle a negotiation deal.
After months of international calls and resolutions no effective measure was undertaken by the Israeli government to halt the crisis imploding Gaza civilization. Until and unless Netanyahu himself announces his plan for ceasefire, the world has to continue watch and witness.
