The White House on Friday said, the implementation of the Indo-pacific strategy has improved the security and prosperity of the US and the key regions associated with it, expands the bilateral collaboration with India in unprecedented ways.
“The United States is now more robustly positioned than ever in the Indo-pacific” said Adrienne Watson, White house national Security Council spokesperson.
She said “over the past 2 years, we have made historic progress in advancement of the Indo-pacific, making it free and open, connected, prosperous, secure and resilient. Thanks to President Biden’s leadership, the US has never been in a stronger position regarding Indo-Pacific”.
Since the initiation of the Indo-Pacific strategy, the US has reinvented and strengthened its alliances and relationships, increasing them to unprecedented ranks, Watson stated.
“We have deepened and strengthened our partnerships with Japan, the Republic of Korea, Australia, the Philippines and Thailand. We have also elevated our bilateral partnership with ASEAN. We have Expanded our Partnership with India in unprecedented ways. We have increased our efforts in the pacific,” she said.
President Joe Biden hosted the US-Japan-South Korea trilateral summit at Camp David, to take a step towards a new era of this crucial partnership, Watson said.
Under Biden’s guidance the US has advanced the QUAD- involving Australia, India and Japan, to a summit at the leader level, achieving incredible outcomes for the Indo-Pacific region. Outcomes including providing vaccines and increasing maritime domain awareness to offering scholarships for students, she said.
“And three of the four official state visits hosted by Biden were the leaders who represent Indo-Pacific countries: the Republic of Korea, India, and Australia. This year Prime Minister of Japan Fumio Kishida will join President Biden. We have undertaken historic cooperation between the US, Japan and Philippines,” Watson added.
“We are building much closer ties among Europe and the Indo-Pacific, taking through the launch of AUKUS, a celebrated partnership between Australia, United States and the United Kingdom”.
