“Israel’s baseless attacks against the United Nations only demonstrate moral cowardice,” said UN Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the Palestinian territories, Francesca Albanese.
Albanese added, in a statement, after Russian Foreign Minister’s statement of not to renew visas for United Nations employees, “The United Nations has been weakened by decades of impunity for violations of international law, including the colonization of the occupied Palestinian territories and forced displacement.”
She added, according to Wafa News Agency that “the United Nations must hold Israel accountable if it wants to save its reputation and its goal,” stressing that “no one can be free unless everyone is free.”
The UN rapporteur called for a ceasefire, the release of Palestinian hostages and detainees, full protection, reconstruction, an end to the occupation, and justice.
It is noteworthy that Albanese was attacked last April by the Israeli organization “International Legal Forum”, demanding that she end her work, due to a statement she issued, stating: “The loss of life in the occupied Palestinian territory is devastating, especially at a time when there should be Peace to all, Christians, Jews and Muslims.
The Third Phase of the war
The Israeli Broadcasting Corporation reported that the Israeli army is preparing to move to the third phase of the war on the Gaza Strip in the coming weeks, which includes ending ground maneuvers.
The authority quoted unidentified sources as saying that the Israeli army is preparing to move to the third phase of the fighting in Gaza under operational achievements.
The third phase, according to the sources, includes ending the ground maneuver in the Gaza Strip, reducing forces, demobilizing reserve forces, resorting to air strikes, and establishing a buffer zone on the border between Israel and Gaza.
Israeli Channel 11 revealed that the third phase will also include reducing the number of forces, forming a buffer zone, and continuing focused attacks in Gaza, stressing that the army is preparing to demobilize thousands of reserve soldiers soon. The broadcasting authority claimed that the army took control of most of the northern Gaza Strip area, while facing great difficulties in moving forward in the southern Gaza Strip area.
