Europe’s premier football tournament(UEFA), the Euro Championship, is about to begin. 24 countries will fight for a title in 10 separate venues. Germany is the sole host of the Euros for the first time since the unification of West and East Germany.
The organizers are determined to surprise the world. Security has already been beefed up in the country for the 17th edition. Germany will face Scotland in the opening match on Friday June 14.
The European Championship is again going to be held in Germany. The organizers gave the world an early message of the Euro in a grand rehearsal before the official start. Germany is the sole host of the Euros for the first time since the Unification. Before that, the last Euro was held in Germany was in 1988 and the following year, Germany was born as a single country after the Berlin Wall came down. All preparations are over. Now the last minute cotton scraping is going on.
The first match of this year’s tournament will be held at the Allianz Arena in Bayern Munich, Germany. Scotland will face the hosts in this match. There will be two to four matches per day in the group stage till June 26.

The top 16 matches will start from June 29. Quarter-finals will be held from July 5 to 7 and the semi-finals will be held on July 10 and 11. The final will be held on July 15 in Berlin.

Groups division and formats
The group stage has been divided into six groups of four teams, who will face each other in a single round-robin format. The top-two teams from each group will enter the Round of 16. Meanwhile, the top-four third-ranked sides will also reach the Round of 16. The Round of 16 will be followed by the quarter-finals, semi-finals and then the final.
Group A: Germany, Scotland, Hungary, Switzerland.
Group B: Spain, Croatia, Italy, Albania.
Group C: Slovenia, Denmark, Serbia, England.
Group D: Poland, Netherlands, Austria, France.

Qualifier’s round of UEFA
Six teams were undefeated in the qualifying round of the tournament. France, England, Portugal, Belgium, Romania and Hungary.
However, Portugal is the only team that has won every single match. They scored 36 goals and conceded just two goals by the end of qualifying. Spain and Scotland lost one match each.
Since winning the 2014 World Cup in Russia, Germany have not seen a major title until now. Now they wants to upset the three-time Euro champions.
