The South Korean company Samsung announced its acquisition of a popular audio and music player platform, which is famous for its ease of use across multiple devices in multiple rooms, regardless of its brands.
Samsung explained that its subsidiary, Harman, had acquired the Roon platform to benefit from its expertise in the field of cross-device audio platforms and utilize it in upcoming Samsung earphones and smartphones.
Dave Rodgers, President of Harman’s lifestyle division, commented on the deal, describing it as part of the company’s identity to “create exceptional audio experiences” for partners and consumers around the world.
Roon CEO Eno Vandermeer said: “The joining forces will give Roon the scale, resources, and access of a global technology leader.”
The brand will retain its independence to invest in the growth and future of the business, however, it will offer its data management expertise and consumer engagement capabilities to all Harman partners including Samsung’s mobile services.
