The former president of the US, Barak Obama warned Israel about the ramifications of war.
He stated that any military strategy that ignores the human casualties may backfire.
He added that some of Israel’s resolutions in its war against Hamas, such as cutting off Israeli food from Gaza could “harden Palestinian attitudes for generations” and weaken international support for Israel.
He slammed the situation of Gaza‘s blockade as he saw that would escalate the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
He added that people of goodwill can support Palestinian rights and oppose certain Israeli government policies in the West Bank and Gaza without being anti-semitic,” the former president said.
Israel has launched intensive air raids on Gaza to retaliate Hamas’ surprise attack on Israel on October 7 killed more than 1,400 people.
Officials in Gaza say that the Israeli air strikes killed more than 5,300 Palestinians, while about 18,000 others were injured, and entire families were annihilated.
Meanwhile, Obama denounced the brutal attack of Hamas on Israel and showed his solidarity with Israel to retaliate but, he warned of the war consequences on civilians.
Obama mentioned the U.S.’ military response against al-Qaeda after 9/11 as an example, saying it had “at times fallen short of our higher values when engaged in war” and didn’t effectively heed advice from allies.
