Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Re-elected to Customs Policy Commission, Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.
The member states of the World Customs Organization approved the re-election of the Kingdom’s representative in the working group, Mr. Abdulaziz bin Mohammed Al-Ohali, Director General of Data and Analytics at the Zakat, Tax, and Customs Authority, to head the organization’s data and statistics working group for a second term. This came during the third working group meeting held at the headquarters of the World Customs Organization in the Belgian capital, Brussels.
The re-election of the Kingdom’s representative in the working group comes as a result of the efforts made and the positive results achieved during the past period of its presidency of the group, in addition to the excellence of the Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority in the field of data and analysis, and the continuing efforts made by the Authority in drawing up data strategies for the World Customs Organization, statistics standards and building capacity; To reach best practices related to data production and analysis at the level of the organization’s member states.
The Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority focuses its efforts on the field of data on its initiatives related to advanced analytics, business intelligence, and decision support through data products and services that are in line with the data governance and integration policies in all the various areas of the Authority’s work. This aims to raise the level of knowledge in the field of data.
The Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority wrote on its official website: “ The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia succeeded in preserving its membership in the Customs Policy Commission and the Finance Commission of the World Customs Organization (WCO), after agreeing with the countries of the North African, Near, and Middle East region at the 56th regional coordination meeting, held at the World Customs Organization in Brussels, and the support of members of the WCO’s Board at its session (140/139) on the continuation of Saudi Arabia’s membership in the two Commission, during the participation of the Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority in the meetings of WCO.”
The move followed an agreement among North African and Near and Middle East countries reached at the 56th coordinatory meeting held at the headquarters of the World Customs Organization in Brussels.
