Japan Prime Minister – Fumio Kishida in his address to Congress on Thursday, congratulated United States for single-handedly upholding international law.
Japan’s Prime Minister addressed a gathering of Congress delegates on Thursday, after his fruitful-expedition to the United States few days back. Throughout his presentation, the prime minister expressed his gratitude for the way U.S has single-handedly upheld international law.
Kishida said he understood “the exhaustion of being the country that has upheld the international order almost single-handedly.” but added, “The leadership of United States is indispensable.”
Fumio Kishida who was born a year after Japan attacked Pearl Harbor which prompted U.S’s official entry in the second world war has asserted his inclination to empower defense strategies to reshape the world order and reminded lawmakers that without U.S support his devotion is ineffectual.
Japan who was stripped of its right to a military after the second world war is determined to share responsibilities with its ally the United States to decompress China’s growing military and security challenge.
“When necessary, it made noble sacrifices to fulfill its commitment to a better world”, Kishida said of the US. Kishida also reminded the world the harmful maneuvers set-forth by China to deconstruct territorial sovereignty of various Indo-Pacific nations.
In his address, Kishida said that China’s military actions “present an unprecedented, and the greatest, security challenge.”
U.S and Japan’s security cooperation against China
“Without the presence of United States, how long before the Indo-Pacific would face even harsher realities?”, said Kishida.
The realities underlines China’s assault of power on numerous Indo-Pacific nations who consistently have been a victim of China’s deliberate attempts to obliterate global peace.
U.S President Joe Biden held a trilateral summit on Thursday with President Ferdinand Marcos of the Philippines, which has been on the receiving end of increasingly assertive Chinese moves in dispute-rife waters.
“I want to be clear, the United States defense commitments to Japan and to Philippines are ironclad.” Mr. Biden said. The goal U.S has is to form smaller, overlapping partnerships with Indo-Pacific countries aimed at ensuring they can withstand Chinese pressure.
The summit shared by the likes of world leaders of three countries, who had their defense cooperation intertwined to sabotage China’s growing power-moves was headed by U.S President.
“We are taking our cooperation to new heights to ensure a free, open, peaceful, and prosperous Indo-Pacific, Biden wrote on X.
China’s actions pose challenges “not only to the peace and security of Japan but to the peace and stability of the international community at large.” exclaimed Kishida in his speech.
All throughout his speech, Japan minister lifted-up spirits of countries who are under severe threat from China’s outrageous territorial-policy. On Wednesday, Fumio Kishida met Biden where they pledged to step up cooperation, including the new three-way air defense system involving United States, Japan and Australia.
Japan minister hail U.S on Ukraine
Without inserting himself too much into U.S’s domestic politics, Fumio Kishida applauded United States for its adamant measures to provide Ukraine funds and resources against Russian invasion. “Without U.S support, how long before the hopes of Ukraine would collapse under the onslaught from Moscow?” Japan minister asked.
His dialogue comes amid the growing contention regarding the Ukraine-aid bill which necessitate to provide billions of dollars of military aid to Ukraine, has not been received well by hard-right Republicans who have pushed for ousting House Speaker, Mike Johnson if he fails to align his interest with the house people.
The disadvantage which Ukraine has on battlefield against Moscow has repeatedly been shed-upon by Democrats who are resolute to send off arms used in war to Ukraine. The house will be undergoing its own battle on the bill next week.
Fumio Kishida’s address at Congress received repeated standing-ovations from lawmakers who stood headstrong with Kishida’s reaffirmation on Ukraine aid, warnings against Chinese influence and Japanese investments in United States.
