Elon Musk and British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak converged in London’s Lancaster House on Thursday in a friendly interview at the end of this week’s summit on artificial intelligence.
The interview was attended by an audience that included ministers and technology experts. The aim of the interview was to discuss and tackle mutual hopes for the future.
The Prime minister started his speech by saluting Musk by saying: “You’re known for being such a brilliant innovator and technologist,”
Musk praised London as a destination of technology and thanked Sunak for inviting China to the summit. He said: “Thank you for inviting them, having them here is essential. If they’re not participants, it’s pointless.”
Musk and Sunak discussed many issues of AI and technology as they tackled how technology changed and transformed learning and the future of work,
AI Threats
Sunak referred to the anxiety of people from being replaced by AI computers to perform their jobs in the future but Musk underscored that humans more generally will make deep friendships with AI once the technology becomes intelligent enough.
Both have debated about how to make AI safe and under control. Sunak referred to the possibility of misleading information caused by AI and how to overcome it as he gave an example of the elections in the UK. Sunak agreed with Musk and stressed that he wants to make X as “accurate as possible and as truthful as possible.”
“It’s been a huge privilege and pleasure to have you here,” the British prime minister told Musk as they left the stage.
Most Notably, Elon Musk is the co-founder of Tesla, SpaceX, Neuralink, and The Boring Company in addition to that, he bought Twitter and changed its name to X. In 2015, Musk co-founded OpenAI, a not-for-profit artificial intelligence (AI) research company aiming to develop artificial general intelligence intended to be safe and beneficial to humanity.
